When writing for ringel, please keep the following facts in mind.

Sexuality

• ha ha yes ringel are the sex species. That said, it is 100% preferred to be at least a little restrained in this dimension. Yes, ringel have sex casually, frequently, and in the open. This doesn't mean they have no rules surrounding sex, though.
• Sex can be forbidden in areas, especially food preparation and serious meetings the like. As a consideration, though, ringel are typically given designated breaks/zones for it. (I did say a little restrained).
• Ringel sexuality is only partly instinctual, and a lot of it is cultural. Ringel not acclimated to their own culture can be just as reserved and anxious about sex as the species they grew up around (and in many ways, vise versa)
• Ringel are allowed to have hobbies outside of sex. In fact, this is encouraged. However, most will still find sex an important underpinning of their identity and do not appreciate being involuntarily restrained from practicing it (much to the krakuns' chagrin)
• Most ringel are not raunchy and perverted on purpose--what they are, though, is a product of their society. Ringel language and culture is very open and frank about all sorts of things, and so a ringel talking in a way that'd seem dirty to other species is to them just how you communicate normally, without any intent of riling people up. That said, many ringel find the prudishness of other species funny and may for that reason provoke them on purpose.
• Ringel do pairbond like other species, though of course the mechanics are much looser. Sex is a non-factor for these relationships, and in fact the ringel may bear the kits of those other than their mate without question or incident--the prerogative is always that of the mother.

Religion

• Ringel are typically nonreligious with a few exceptions.
• There is a pervasive superstitious belief in fae and small gods. Normally, these do not affect a ringel's behavior save that many are respectful of these spirits and try not to anger them. Shrines, many with statues, images or icons, some even built spontaneously overnight, are quite common in cities and the countryside. Many shrines are haphazard and temporary in construction but are maintained by some who adopt the shrines, or ringel who happen to be passing by. Ringel will often give offerings to these even if they have no idea who or what it's for.
• Occasionally, ringel will develop cults. These almost never grow beyond a single insular community, and mainstream ringel society reacts to cult behavior with a massive eye-roll.

Piracy

• Ringeltec is a planet with many islands and few continents. As such, early in their history, all ringel cultures developed a seafaring tradition. This tradition is still considered part of the ringel golden age and is a major cultural touchstone for all ringel societies.
• This has resulted in modern ringel preferring to organize themselves into privateer forces, even within their own militaries. Ships will typically act independently and enact raids on their own, but may be pressed into combining forces by their governor.
