Brief Summary
Kyacaotl (race nickname 'kya') are a canine race standing around 1-2 meters in height. They wear masks to conceal their faces as a cultural and religious tradition. Those without masks are seen as outcasts or slaves.
Writing for Kyacaotl
The species nickname is allowed even formally in written stories. When writing for kya, please keep the following facts in mind.
Atmosphere
- The kya breath chlorinated air. (see Atmospheric Compatibility)
- For oxygen-breathing species, a simple sodium plate can be installed in the face or muzzle to react with the chlorine proactively. This results in a persistent and strong salty taste when drinking, eating and breathing.
First Contact
- In the timeline present, the kyacaotl are a recent discovery. They are first found by the krakun of Planetary Acquisitions, using the geroo as their point of contact, and are intended to be treated like how all krakun treat first contact in this manner.
- Kya society at this time is roughly modern and planet-bound. At the time of first contact they had technology such as electricity, radio communication, and television available, as well as wireless phones (which they call... phones) Basic knowledge of radiation and dangers thereof are known publicly. Solar panels are in production enough to rig for domestic use.
- However, following the first wave of kya resistance against krakun, the kya end up acquiring and repurposing krakun technology, and within a few decades become a spacefaring civilization themselves. Kya tend to avoid the massive manufacturing requirements of spacefaring vessels by simply stealing other vessels, through combat, espionage, or finding derelicts. They will do this even for "low value" vessels like barges and fighter craft where possible, turning them into useful exploration and combat ships.
- The kya end up allying with the lio, but tend to keep them at arm's length regardless. Lio Alliance ships are not always off the table when it comes to acquisitions.
Religion
- Worship a goddess named Alamanotl, there are smaller children gods of hers who are also revered such as Shino (Wisdom) and Shaolyotl.
Languages
- The kya do NOT have a standard, unified language. Some named languages include: Karakorum, Eastern Steppe.
