The are bipedal mammals with a stout build—however, their body shapes can vary. The average height is 1.25 meters. Fur covers the whole body, save for the nose, paws and tail. The fur is typically blue or grey, but can range from black and white. They have short rounded ears, square shaped noses, large enamel coated incisors—typically bright orange, flat scaly tails—ranges from red, brown and pink colored, and webbed feet.

* They have been recalled by the Slave Licensing Authority, preventing them from traversing through space any further. See [[#Culture & Religion|Culture & Religion]] below.
* Current population estimate is near 400. All exclusively within the Krakun Empire as house slaves.

*Due to being cryophilic, they were never popular as slaves. When other lower maintenance slaves became available in the slave market, most were eager to replace their vrinx crew.
* The political climate was at a turmoil by of their first contact with the krakun. Many working class vrinx were frustrated with the high secrecy upheld by the "elected" officials, which included keeping historical records only for the eyes of the wealthy—if not erased entirely. This led to a large chunk of their own history to be lost. A mutiny broke out shorty after encountering the krakun. This lead to the destruction of the ship.
** Even when the empire subjugated more worlds, some of which may have included regions tolerable for vrinx, a typical krakun was more likely to "throw away" their vrinx crew rather than relocating them.
* Although the original generation ship was salvaged by the krakun, some vrinx believe it spiritually exists in the afterlife. This ghost ship is referred to as ''the Drifting Ark''.
* In the present day, no census report indicated that their population broke past the three digit range. Some sources even insist that vrinx have gone extinct.

Two different variants of vrinx. Art by CadmiumTea

The vrinx are in development by Jerry Bowman. As of 2026, the race has not been featured nor mentioned in any projects.

Although the creator is not in Goataroo, they're still actively developing this species for Hayven Celestia.

Physical

Vrinx stand bipedal with an average height of 1.35m, and can live up to 130 years. With the exception of the nose, dense fur covers their entire body and can range from white, gray, brown, and black (however, the last of the two are rarer variants); speckles, spots, blotches and other asymmetrical patterns located on their backside are common. Ears are external, but are typically tiny and round.

While their physiology allows them to be natural swimmers, they are semi-aquatic; they do not need to be constantly wet. Both paws and feet are webbed, and the tail is flat.

Their incisors are large and chisel shaped (with a protective enamel coating), and grow throughout their lives. This necessitates for them to gnaw on hard objects to trim them down.

Writing for Vrinx

When writing for vrinx, please keep the following facts in mind.

High-Temperature Sensitivity

  • Having evolved from a nearly frigid world, Vrinx are cryophilic and cannot function well in higher temperatures.
  • Cooling gel pads, collars, or vests are essential for a vrinx to be out in warmer environments.
    • This has proved to be an annoyance to the krakun after subjugation, as many viewed it as too "high maintenance" for slave care.

Endangered

  • Their population was already declining when their home world was discovered by the Krakun Empire; climate change reduced the ice from the polar regions significantly. Shortly after they were subjugated as slaves, hardly anywhere was suitable for a vrinx.
    • First contact with vrinx predates any other oxygen-breathing race; without any other alternatives, slavery was the only option.
  • Due to being cryophilic, they were never popular as slaves. When other lower maintenance slaves became available in the slave market, most were eager to replace their vrinx crew.
    • Even when the empire subjugated more worlds, some of which may have included regions tolerable for vrinx, a typical krakun was more likely to "throw away" their vrinx crew rather than relocating them.
  • In the present day, no census report indicated that their population broke past the three digit range. Some sources even insist that vrinx have gone extinct.
